Certificate Program

Modules


Each module will accept applications satisfying the acceptance criteria independently, but it is highly recommended to take the modules sequentially if you are new to data science and/or machine learning field, and would like to get a strong theoretical base.
The curriculum of each module is designed to provide both theoretical knowledge on the selected AI topics, and hands-on implementations of the algorithms and techniques on case studies chosen from real life applications. Each topic in the curriculum will be taught by pioneering researchers on AI and the applications of AI on different fields (natural language processing, recommender systems, software modelling, autonomous systems, computer vision), with the support of their research teams.
The language of teaching will be TURKISH, but the course materials including but not limited to slides and case studies will be provided in English.

Modules involve 6 hours study per week. 6 hours will be divided into 3 hours theory on Saturday and 3 hours practice on a week day.
Classes will be held in ITU ARI TEKNOKENT. Classrooms will be announced.

We are pleased to announce our short-term certificate programs to the professionals who are interested in getting a strong and comprehensive theoretical knowledge and career-oriented curriculum on AI. The program consists of three modules: Python for Data Analytics and Visualization, Machine Learning for Data Science, and Deep Learning.

Why to attend to the certificate program of ITU AI?


At ITU AI, we have a strong, internationally recognized and dynamic academic staff who have theoretical knowledge on AI, and practical experience on the applications of AI.
The curriculum of our undergraduate and graduate programs at ITU consists of more than 30 AI related courses.Until 2018, more than 1000 graduate theses that are related to AI (according to YÖK records) were supervised and successfully defended by students enrolled in various faculties of ITU.
Our publications consisting of AI keywords have the highest rank in terms of the number of citations among national universities, while they are at the 160th rank in the international arena.

Completion Criteria:


In order to get the certificate of competency on any of these modules, the applicant must pay the full rate of the module fee, attend at least 80% of the courses, complete the case studies during the lecture hours, and present their projects at the end of the module program.
The participants who are able to complete any module of the program will get the certificate of competency on either data analytics and visualisation, machine learning or deep learning, and have the skill set to address the challenges in industrial settings through the use of these techniques.

Application criteria:


Anyone satisfying the following criteria is eligible to apply to our certificate programs:
  • Curious and enthusiastic about learning theoretical AI topics and implementing these to solve several real-life challenges
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience (at least three years) in programming (preferably Python)
  • Graduate of a four-year undergraduate program of computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, statistics, mathematics, physics, or similar areas.

The teaching assistants who are willing to attend to the modules shall get a recommendation letter from their supervisors indicating their research topic and the need for getting a training on the selected AI topics. The certificate program committee will evaluate the applications and give 100% tuition scholarship for five teaching assistants to enroll into the certificate program.
